The species is native to Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

Likes bright indirect light, and can handle direct sun.

Minimum temp of 40 degrees F.
Humidity:
Low humidity is good for this plant, but it can handle most condition.
Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Well draining soil with lots of perlite works well. Probably wouldn't mind some coarse sand mixed in as well.
Watering:
Water sparingly, only when soil is quite dry.
Fertilizer:
This cactus be fertilized with the moderate doses. 1 to 2 times a month in the summer and once every 2-3 months in the winter.
